Polio and the Polio Vaccine – a
fundamental challenge.
In an outstanding work of medical history, an accomplished investigative journalist
and producer, Janine Roberts, tears away a curtain of spin to describe how the
polio vaccine’s success is based on a statistical fabrication – and
is still based utterly on this spin.
The result of this spin is that thousands of children worldwide are today suffering
from a hidden epidemic of what was known as polio at the time of the American
polio epidemics of the 1940s and 1950s; but whose disease has been renamed in
order to give the polio vaccine the appearance of a victory. These children
have been effectively abandoned, without being given any hope of a cure.
She describes, drawing on official records, how the polio vaccine was discovered
to be completely ineffective when introduced in 1955, and how a decision was
then made to save the reputation of those involved in its launch by registering
most cases of what was then called polio, as different diseases. The health
authorities claimed the resulting sharp drop in numbers of cases of polio as
a victory for the vaccine, despite this being entirely based on statistical
manipulation.
She goes on to document how the same statistical spin is still used by the World
Health Organisation (WHO) as the basis of its claim that the polio vaccine in
2004 has practically won its final victory. It makes this boast after renaming
most cases of what was known as polio (or infantile paralysis), prior to 1955,
as cases of ‘Acute Flaccid Paralysis’ (AFP).
AFP is still epidemic around the world. There were many thousands more cases
of AFP in the US last year than there were in the year of the greatest acknowledged
US polio epidemic, that of 1952. In some East Asian countries, AFP cases have
increased by over 300% in the last five years.
This month’s Ecologist also includes Roberts’ detailed analysis of
just what did cause polio, drawing on contemporary sources, including medical
papers describing how the clinically identical disease was found by leading
scientists to be caused by various chemical toxins.
She concludes with a quite terrifying description of how the polio vaccine was
and is made and why it is still contaminated, based on scientific research as
well as internal documents from pharmaceutical companies. She includes a copy
of an until now effectively secret letter from the giant Merck Corporation,
telling the US authorities that the polio vaccines were so dangerously contaminated
and impossible to clean that Merck had to decline from manufacturing them. Other
corporations such as the UK’s GSK stepped in to do this instead –
and thus these contaminated vaccines have continued to be used until today.
